Course Description

This course is to equip the participant which knowledge, skills and attitude in planning flight paths, taking into account aircraft performance and loading, enroute winds, thunderstorm and turbulence forecasts, airspace restrictions, and airport conditions.

Entry Requirements

 

  • Secondary school level or its equivalent with a KCSE mean grade of C- (minus) with at least C- in Mathematics and C- in English (or evidence of bridging on the clusters from recognized institution) or its equivalent or
    • At least one year as an assistant in the dispatching of aircraft used in commercial air transport in the last six months preceding the date of application.
    • Or a Diploma from a recognized institution.
  • Physically and mentally fit for the FOO duties in the opinion of a qualified health professional.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Must be nineteen (19) years and above.

 

What You Will Learn

At the end of the course the participant will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the knowledge required to perform the Flight Dispatch duties considering safety/standard and operational requirements.
  • Assist the pilot-in-command in flight preparation and provide the relevant information required;
  • Assist the pilot-in-command in preparing the operational and ATS flight plans, sign when applicable and file the ATS flight plan with the appropriate ATS unit;
  • Furnish the pilot-in-command while in flight, by appropriate means, with information which may be necessary for the safe conduct of the flight; and
  • In the event of an emergency, initiate such procedures as may be outlined in the operations manual.
